Melody Over The Sea Maslinica Bay, Island of Hvar
Tucked between refined Mediterranean modern architecture and the shimmering expanse of Maslinica Bay, Melody Over The Sea is a garden composed like music – layered, immersive, and full of quiet discovery. The client envisioned a landscape that would not only soften and enhance the architectural lines of the property but also connect fluidly to the natural drama of the surrounding sea and sky. The result is a multi-sensory garden experience, divided into distinct garden rooms that unfold like movements in a composition. Some areas invite quiet reflection with soft textures and dappled light, while others are open and expansive framing panoramic coastal views with carefully placed plantings and sculptural forms. As with all Soil gardens, form follows function, and beauty follows ecology. We used a regenerative approach – working with drought-tolerant Mediterranean plants, native perennials, and soil-friendly planting techniques to create a space that’s as sustainable as it is sophisticated. A water-wise irrigation system ensures the garden flourishes with minimal intervention, while thoughtful privacy screening and pollinator-friendly planting add depth, and a sense of enclosure where needed. This garden does not impose; it listens. It moves with the seasons, catches the wind, filters light, and shifts in mood throughout the day. It’s a space where elegance meets ecology—a living threshold between home and horizon. Melody Over The Sea is a celebration of regenerative design as an art form, offering a luxurious yet grounded experience that evolves gently over time, enriching the land and the lives it touches.
